We also have a daughter Melissa, she has 4 children.
She wrote a poem for her little sister:
My Little Sister!!!!!!!
My little sister, with her long, blond, curly hair
My little sister with blue eyes the color of the sky
The little girl on the block who was rough and tough
Who could probaly beat up all the guys
Oh how athletic she was!
Softball and field hockey her favorite sports
Family and friends were there to support
In June of 97 on graduation you see
Important decisions would have to be
Undecided for almost a year
What was to become would bring
Our mom tears and fear
She sat down at the table
One winter night
She told our parents her dream
Mom and Dad
I want to be a Marine
Dad was all for it but Mom had her doubts
As for me the big sister, I knew she was tough
She knew the Marine life would at first be rough
So she signed up and did what she had to do
To prepare herself for what was to become
Off came the long,blond,curly hair
As Mom sat crying in her chair
On a March winter evening
We told her goodbye
There were hugs and tears
For now we knew she would not be near
Out the door she went to go miles away
When she arrived that cold winter day
Oh how different words could not say
There was alot to be done in the weeks to come
Many would make it but not some
Mom is at home counting the days
Missing her daughter in so many ways
Waiting for phone calls and checking the mail
Knowing her daughter would not fail
On a hot summer day in June of 98
We knew we would no longer have to wait
For on that day she stood dressed in green
She looked so mature, she had accomplished her dream
For now my little sister is a United States Marine
Dedicated to Pfc. Renee
By her big sister Melissa Griebau
